b. Buchen (Germany), Sept. 5, 1672, 
d. Goettweig (Lower Austria), Jan. 22, 1749, Benedictine, clergyman, 
historian. From 1714 abbot of the monastery in Goettweig, which he 
started to rebuild after a fire in 1718; twice Rector of the 
University in Vienna, engaged in historical research on the basis of 
ancient documents. His work "Chronicon Gottwicense" marked the 
beginning of the science of document research in Austria.
