d. Vienna, March 19, 1894, painter of historical pictures, Nazarene, 
father of Eugen B. (1843-1931) and Julius von B. (1845-1922), who were 
also famous painters; studied in Venice and under F. Overbeck in Rome; 
preference for religious themes, 1851 returned to Vienna, taught in 
Vienna and Venice; numerous public commissions.

45 paintings for the hall of fame in the Imperial and Royal 
Museum of Arms, frescoes for the Altlerchenfelder church in Vienna and 
the church in Fót (Hungary).
