!!!Blasius, Heiliger

b. around 316, Bishop of Sebaste (Armenia), martyr, one of the 14 
auxiliary saints. Since the late Middle Ages St. Blasius´ 
blessing has been said to protect against throat problems. The 
blessing is given with two candles held in the shape of St. 
Andrew´s cross.
