b. Chernovtsy (Ukraine), Feb. 15, 1914, 
d. Vienna, June 14, 1999, music sociologist. Established music 
sociology as a subject at the Vienna Musikhochschule* in 1962; from 
1963 professor ,1965 founded the Institute of Music Sociology and the 
"Mediacult" Institute. Member of the UNESCO, married to the 
Mahler-specialist H. Singer, numerous publications with her.
