m, pop. 318, area 14.88 km%%sup 2/%, scattered farming settlement on 
the northern slope of the Grosses Walsertal Valley; some tourism. - 
First documented mention before 1374, Baroque parish church (1684, 
interior decoration from the 18%%sup th/%  century). - Large-scale 
avalanche disaster on January 10/11, 1954, with 57 casualties and vast 
property damage (E. Jussel, W. Oberhammer monument).
