Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo, congregation, founded in 
1652. Have been active in Austria since 1837, mainly in child and 
youth education, care of the sick and the aged. Seats in Vienna, Linz, 
Grieskirchen, Stadl-Paura, Gmunden and Bad Ischl (all Upper Austria), 
missionary hospital in Mexico; approx. 200 sisters (1994).
