b. Muerzzuschlag (Styria), Feb. 12, 1942, law scholar. Since 1968 at 
the University of Graz, since 1978 university professor, and several 
times rector. 1986-1987 Chairman of the Austrian Rectors´ 
Conference. Member of the Nationalrat and OeVP (Austrian 
People´s Party) scientific spokesman, 1995-2000 member of the 
Styrian Landtag and chairman of the Liberal Forum.
