b. Vienna, March 20, 1910, 
d. Waidhofen an der Thaya (Lower Austria), April 22, 1997, expert in 
canon law and international law. From 1948 university professor in 
Graz, intermittently suspended from office, early retirement in 1967. 
Owing to his work for the Austrian Peace Council, an organization with 
relations to the Austrian Communist party (chairman 1953-1960), 
disciplinary and criminal proceedings were taken against him during 
the Cold War.
