b. Vienna, Oct. 3, 1909, d. Forest Hills (USA), 
June 24, 1996, writer. Until 1938 journalist in Vienna (e.g. for 
the "Neues Wiener Tagblatt", the "Neue Freie 
Presse" and the "Neues Wiener Journal"); 1938 emigrated 
via Great Britain to New York, where he worked from 1940 as a theatre 
critic for European newspapers and the Berlin radio station RIAS. 
1962-1991 music consultant for the German-Jewish newspaper 
"Aufbau" in New York and music critic for the "New York 
Times" and other publications.
