d. Vienna, Feb. 1, 1987, lawyer and politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party, SPOe); brother of Engelbert  Broda. 1957-1959 member 
of the Bundesrat; 1962-1983 member of the Nationalrat, as Minister of 
Justice (1960-1966, 1970-1983) introduced important reforms in family 
and social law; 1987 received the Human Rights Award of the European 
Council.
