d. Vienna, April 5, 1960, writer, initially teacher and commercial 
artist, after 1945 also film scriptwriter; 1933 co-founder of the

"Union of socialist writers", wrote mainly non-fiction novels that 
were translated into many languages. In his novel "Karl und das 
20. Jh." (1933) B. incorporated the ideas of the philosopher Otto 
 Neurath. Awarded the J. Reich Prize of the University of Vienna and 
the Prize of the City of Vienna in 1950.
