b. Innsbruck (Tyrol), Oct. 22, 1942, mathematician and computer 
scientist. Since 1974 university professor in Linz, since 1987 head of 
the university research institute RISC (Research Institute for 
Symbolic Computation) at Hagenberg Castle (Upper Austria). Founder and 
director of the Software Park in  Hagenberg im Muehlkreis.
