b. Litomeřice, Czech Republic, Dec. 1, 1946, concert pianist. At
the age of 5 began his training at the Hochschule fuer Musik (now
University of Music and Performing Arts) in Vienna as the youngest
student at this institution. First public performance at the age of 9;
since then many international concert tours and recordings; numerous
awards (e.g. winner of the Beethoven Piano Competition in 1967, Grand
Prix du Disque for his recording of J. Haydn's complete works);
further noteworthy recordings: all of L. van Beethoven's piano
sonatas, piano concertos by J. Brahms, waltzes by J. Strauss in an
arrangement for piano.
