b. Staasdorf (in the municipality of Tulln an der Donau in the province of Lower Austria), March 3, 1879, 
d. Tulln an der Donau, Feb. 20, 1950, farmer and politician (Christian 
Socialist, OeVP). Pioneered agricultural cooperatives; 1931-1938 
chairman of the Austrian  Raiffeisenverband; 1922-1926 Minister and 
1945 Staatssekretaer of Agriculture and Forestry, then senior official 
at the Austrian National Bank.
