Bundes-Wertpapieraufsicht, BWA (Federal Securities Agency), public 
agency established under the Securities Act of 1996 to supervise the 
securities market ( Stock Exchange) and financial services. Started 
operations in 1998. Its mission includes the control of illegal 
business practices, the supervision of publicity requirements, the 
licensing of securities service companies, and international 
information and exchange operations.
