b. Vienna, Dec. 8, 1938, philosopher. Since 1991 professor of 
philosophy at the Academy (now University) of Applied Arts in Vienna), 
from 1995-1999 rector. Numerous publications on the theory of 
knowledge and philosophy of history. Awarded the Austrian State Prize 
for Cultural Journalism in 2000.
