b. Brěclav, Czech Republic (then Lundenburg), June 19, 1899, 
d. Graz (Styria), Jan. 15, 1987, actor. After his engagement at the 
German theatre in Bruenn (Brno) 1918-1934, C. came to Vienna through 
the help of the manager R. Beer (Theater an der Wien, Volksoper, 
etc.). In 1934 started his film career (more than 200 films, often 
with P.  Hoerbiger, H.  Moser, L.  Slezak, L.  Englisch), one of the 
most popular comedians of his time.
