b. Vienna, March 6, 1781, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 5, 1862, author. Popular and versatile poet of the 
Vienna Biedermeier period; after 1811 wrote about 200 plays for the 
Vienna Kaerntnertortheater, these were for the most part published in 
his almanach "Dramatische Straeusschen" (1809, 1817-1835), C. edited 
the magazines "Der Sammler" (from 1808) and "Wiener Modezeitung" 
(1815-1848) and founded the  "Ludlamshoehle" in 1819 and the Vienna 
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in 1847.
