!!!Chlumetzky Chlumecky Johann Freiherr von

b. Zadar, Croatia (then Zara), March 23, 1834, 
d. Bad Aussee (Styria), Dec. 11, 1924, moderate left wing politician; 
1871 Minister of Agriculture, 1875-1879 Minister of Trade, 1893-1897 
president of the parliament. Founded the University of Agricultural 
Sciences in Vienna, played a major role in enlarging the Austrian 
railway network, paved the way for the nationalization of the private 
railway companies and turned one of them - the southern line railway 
company - into an exclusively Austrian enterprise. Made a major 
contribution to the Moravian Compromise (1905) and to universal 
suffrage in 1906.
