Vater von [Franz Chvostek|AEIOU/Chvostek,_Franz_junior] junior. Professor am Josephinum (Militärärzteakademie) in Wien. Nach ihm ist das chvosteksche Zeichen benannt: Übererregbarkeit motorischer Nerven, besonders im Gesicht, bei Spasmophilie und Tetanie, sodass Beklopfen des Gesichts Muskelzuckungen auslöst.
