Chyträus, David eigentlich D. Kochhafe#
b. Ingelfingen (Germany), Feb. 26, 1531, d. Rostock (Germany), June 25, 1600, Protestant theologian and reformer of the educational system; exerted a strong influence upon Lutheranism with his collections of rules governing church life in Lower Austria, Styria, Carinthia, Carniola and Goerz (Gorizia). In Graz founded a new type of school for the nobility extending from the elementary level up to training in rhetoric and law - the so-called "Landschaftsschule" - based upon his new rules for Protestant schools.
