b. Vienna, Feb. 21, 1791, 
d. Vienna, July 15, 1857, pianist and famous piano teacher, pupil of 
L. van  Beethoven, teacher of F.  Liszt, composed more than 1000 
pieces of which the educational pieces "Schule der Gelaeufigkeit" and 
"Schule der linken Hand" and several Études are still used in 
teaching; was one of the most important Viennese musicians of his 
time.
