Demarcation Line: A boundary established by treaty between states or 
warring parties which is not a border under international law but a 
boundary separating sovereign territories or spheres of influence. In 
1945, at the beginning of the  Occupation of Austria 1945-1955, the 
four zones of the occupying powers in Austria were separated by 
demarcation lines.
