b. Vienna, Oct. 14, 1953, engineer. Studied engineering at the 
University of Technology in Vienna; from 1985 head of ABS/ASC 
engineering at Bosch; 1989 took over the transmission control 
department. Since 1990 at Audi in Ingolstadt, first as head of engine 
research and development, 1995-1996 Chairman of the Board, since 1997 
President of Volkswagen Brazil.
