!!!Dietmar der Anhanger

Dietmar der Anhanger, appears in a folk story in the story collection 
by Friedrich Barbarossa dating from 1519. According to the story, he 
was a miller´s apprentice who was knighted as a reward for his 
bravery during the third crusade in 1189/91. On his estates, he 
founded the town of Ried (Upper Austria); he appears in the coat of 
arms of the city and a sculpture of him can be seen at the fountain in 
front of the town hall in Ried.
