!!!Dittes, Friedrich

b. Irfersgruen (Germany), Sept. 23, 1829, 
d. Vienna, May 15, 1896, educator; father of Paul  Dittes. 1868-1881 
first director of the "Paedagogium", an institution created by the 
liberal municipal council of Vienna offering further training courses 
for teachers. D. sought to create a school system that was largely 
independent of external ties (Church, bureaucracy, political parties). 
He strongly influenced many teachers in Vienna with his staunchly 
non-denominational beliefs.
