politician (Austrian People's Party, OeVP). 1983-1987 head of economic 
policy in the People's Party; 1989-1993 member of the Nationalrat; 
1987-1988 and 1991-1995 Staatssekretaer in the Federal Ministry of 
Finance; 1995-1996 Federal Minister of Economic Affairs; from 
1996-1999 on the management board of  Post und Telekom Austria AG, 
since 1999 financial manager of  Oesterreichische Industrieholding AG, 
since 2001 chairman of the supervisory board of Austrian Airlines.
