Dolomite, a mineral composed of calcium and magnesium carbonate as 
well as a rock containing the mineral as principal constituent. The 
mineral is used for the manufacture of fire-proof products, building 
materials, high-quality chippings, crushed stone, etc. In 1998 85 
companies with 637 workers mined dolomite; output of 8,971,532 t 
of untreated dolomite.
