d. Vienna, Sept. 1, 1953, historian; grandfather of Heinz  Dopsch. 
1900-1936 university professor in Vienna. Revised the school of 
thought on the transition from antiquity to the Middle Ages 
(evolutionary theory instead of catastrophe theory).
