Tricorn (tricorne, cocked hat), hat with brim turned up on three 
sides, popular in the 17%%sup th/%  century; in the 18%%sup th/%  
century a smaller and less conspicuous form was part of a 
gentleman´s clothing and also military uniforms. Worn by the 
middle-class until the mid-19%%sup th/%  century.
