Third Reich, title of a book by A. Moeller published in 1923 in which 
he predicted a new German empire after the Holy Roman Empire and the 
Bismarck empire; used as a catchword by the National Socialists. At 
first adopted by A. Hitler, then rejected, it became widely used to 
denote the National Socialist regime in Germany.
