b. Augsburg (Germany), 1612,
d. Vienna, Feb. 11, 1665. Imperial chamber organist and Court
Composer; 1634 organist at St. Stephen's; from 1637 active at the
emperor's court. One of the main representatives of the Vienna piano
school of the 17th century. Leopold I's music teacher and ballet
composer for the Imperial Opera. Most of his works were destroyed in
World War II.
