d. Vienna, March 20, 1925. Histologist, from 1873 professor of 
histology and evolution at the University of Graz, from 1888 professor 
at the university of Vienna and 1907/08 rector; established systematic 
histology studies in Austria, great accomplishments in the expansion 
of modern histology.
