d. Goess (municipality of Leoben, Styria), April 23, 1794, 
Benedictine, writer, historian, popular educator. Abbot of St. Paul's 
Monastery, parish priest and deacon in Wolfsberg, Cathedral curator in 
Leoben, court preacher in Klagenfurt. E. promoted popular education 
according to the spirit of the Enlightenment at the time of Joseph II, 
writing popular works of social criticism ("Der Kornet, oder: So arg 
macht's die Eifersucht", Drama, 1787; "Blumauer bey den Goettern im 
Olympus ueber die Travestierung der Aeneis angeklagt", parody in 
verse, 1792).

studierenden Jugend, 1781; Die Begebenheiten auf der Jagd, 1789 (comic 
opera); Der Priester, wie man ihn wuenschen mag, und - wie er nicht
