Ley-farming, Austrian term for Egart(en)wirtschaft, the alternate 
growing of crops and grass in a field (approximately 
30.000 hectares) in high and moist locations. The remaining roots 
of the ploughed swards reduce erosion, and during the years of grass 
growing the weeds covering the fields are expected to diminish. With 
natural pastures the forage area is cultivated by natural grass 
regeneration, in ley grass farming this happens by seeding.
