d. Graz (Styria), Sept. 29, 1935, legal scholar, professor at the 
Universities of Vienna and Graz. Influenced the Austrian legal system 
with his system of civil law; his "Appraisals" had a defining 
influence on partial amendments to the Austrian code of civil law.
