Ehrwald, Tirol, municipality in the district of Reutte, alt. 
994 m, pop. 2,303, area 49.44 km%%sup 2/%, bi-seasonal 
tourist centre (436,368 overnight stays) in the region of 
Zwischentoren (between Fern Pass and Katzenberg), at the foot of 
Zugspitze mountain, in Ausserfern. - Customs station and E.-Schanz 
border check-point, cableways: Tirolean Zugspitzbahn cablecar (built 
in 1926, second aerial cableway in Austria) leading to the west summit 
of Zugspitze mountain (alt. 2964 m) and Ehrwalder Almbahn 
cableway (alt. 1502 m). Hotel and restaurant trade are dominant 
economic factors. Baroque parish church (1728/29).
