b. Salzburg, May 6, 1948, studied law, politician (Austrian Social 
Democratic Party, SPOe). son of Gottfried von  Einem and Lianne von 
Bismarck. Worked in the probation service 1972-1977and 1980-1991 in 
the Vienna Chamber of Labour, 1991-1994 for the oil company OMV. 
1994-1995 Staatssekretaer for Civil Servants in the Federal 
Chancellery, 1995-1997 Federal Minister of the Interior, 1997-2000 
Federal Mininister of Science and Transport; since 1999 ordinary for 
member of the Nationalrat.
