English Comedians, English touring companies; during the first half of 
the 17%%sup th/%  century they also toured Austria and frequently 
performed parodies of plays by W. Shakespeare, C. Marlowe and their 
contemporaries; traces of their influence can be found in old Viennese 
popular theatre      Volkstheater.
