d. Graz (Styria), Aug. 12, 1916, pathologist; father of Hans  Eppinger 
Jr.; 1875 university professor in Prague, from 1882 in Graz; worked 
mainly in the fields of bacteriology (anthrax), arterial tumors and 
congenital heart defects.
