b. Vienna, Feb. 12, 1753,
d. Hietzing near Vienna, Aug. 7, 1839, banker, son of a rabbi.
Educated in Amsterdam, became part owner and later full owner of a
bank in Vienna; financial advisor to Joseph II and Franz II, and 1816
co-founder of the Austrian National Bank and 1819 of the Erste
oesterreichische Spar-Casse bank. His former residence in Vienna is
now the Jewish Museum ( Jewish Museums).
