b. Vienna, Aug. 15, 1960, composer; son of Karlheinz  Essl Sr., 
brother of Martin  Essl. Studied at the Vienna School of Music (under 
A.  Uhl, F.  Cerha) and at the University of Vienna (PhD.); mostly 
concerned with electroacoustic music and the potential of computer 
technology in composition. Director general of music of the Essl 
Collection, teaches computer-aided composition at the Bruckner 
Conservatory at Linz.
