b. Grieskirchen (Upper Austria), Sept. 13, 1933, musicologist. Pupil 
of W.  Graf. 1973-1999 succeeded W. Graf as Professor of Comparative 
and Systematic Musicology at Vienna University and was the head of the 
department for many years.
