Fuerth, Otto, b. Strakonice, Czech Republic (then Strakonitz), Nov. 18, 1867, 
d. Vienna, June 7, 1938, expert in chemistry, physician; from 1929 
Professor of Medical Chemistry at Vienna University. One of the last 
scientists who covered all fields of biochemistry. Developed 
quantitative measuring techniques for the determination of biochemical 
substances. Contributed greatly to adrenalin synthesis and was one of 
the first scientists to study hormones. Developed a method for 
determining lactic acid.
