Fahrbach, Philipp the Elder, b. Vienna, Aug. 25, 1815, 
d. Vienna, March 31, 1885, violinist and composer; brother 
of Anton  Fahrbach, Friedrich  Fahrbach and Joseph  Fahrbach, father 
of Philipp  Fahrbach the Younger. Had his own band from 1835. 
1838-1856 director of music for the court balls, 1856-1865 military 
bandmaster.
