Family Affairs, Ministry of, established as a separate ministry in 
1983, between 1983-1987 the name was changed to Ministry of Family 
Affairs, Youth and Consumer Protection, between 1987-1995 it was 
renamed the Ministry for Environment, Youth and Family Affairs, 
between 1995-1996 it became the Ministry for Youth and Family Affairs, 
from 1996-200 it was renamed the Ministry for Environmental Affairs, 
Youth and Family (Ministry for  Environmental Affairs). In 2000 
environmental issues came within the remit of the Federal Ministry for 
Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management ( Ministry 
of Agriculture), while youth and family matters fell within the sphere 
of responsibility of the Federal Ministry for Social Security and 
Generations ( Ministry of Social Affairs).
