Joined the diplomatic service and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 
1984. Chief of Protocol with the United Nations in New York from 
1994-1995. 1995-2000 Staatssekretaerin to the Austrian Ministry for 
Foreign Affairs. Since 2000 Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs.
