b. Munich (Germany), June 11, 1886, 
d. Igls (Tyrol), Aug. 2, 1954, musicologist; son of Julius von  
Ficker, brother of Heinrich von  Ficker and Ludwig von  Ficker. 
Studied with G.  Adler in Vienna; from 1923 professor at the 
University of Innsbruck, from 1927 in Vienna, from 1931 in Munich; 
participated in the publication of  "Denkmaeler der Tonkunst in 
Oesterreich" (monuments of music in Austria). participated esp. in 
reviving medieval music (performances in the Vienna Burgkapelle); 
highly esteemed for examining and editing the "Trento Codices".
