d. Vienna, Feb. 5, 1987, researcher in folklore studies, cultural 
studies and museology, 1977-1987 professor at the University of 
Vienna; advocated studying folk culture from a committed and socially 
critical perspective. His main fields of study comprised folklore of 
the working class, customs and traditions, urban culture and studies 
of the cultural aspects of exhibitions and museums.
