Filzmoos, province of Salzburg, municipality in the district of St. 
Johann, alt. 1,055 m, pop. 1,137, area 75.71 km%%sup 2/%, a 
bi-seasonal tourist resort and place of pilgrimage (465,992 overnight 
stays) situated in the Dachstein region at the foot of Bischofsmuetze 
mountain (alt. 2,018 m). - Golf course, Aumuehle Youth Centre, 
Papageno cableway to Rossbrand peak (alt. 1,770 m). - First documented 
mention in 1273, Gothic parish church (1474) with western tower 
(1546), frescoes (around 1515) and bread of charity (end of the 
15%%sup th/%  century), Calvary, old paarhof farmhouses (in part from 
the 17%%sup th/%  century).
